[RECAP] Coordination Meeting – Archipelagic and Island States Forum 2019

Invited by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), ANGIN was honored to participate in the coordination meeting for the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum – Startup and Business Summit 2019 which is to be held in October 2019. ANGIN, along with Traveloka were present as representatives from the private sector. The coordination meeting itself was held on Friday, 12th of July, took place in Gran Mahakam Hotel in Jakarta and was attended by Saskia Tjokro and Novi Juwita. 

The Head of BAPPENAS of North Sulawesi, Directorate General of Informational Application (Direktur Jendral Aplikasi Informatika) and Deputy Assistant on Maritime & Navigation Safety at Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and representatives from UNDP were also present in the coordination meeting.

The AIS Forum – Startup and Business Summit 2019 takes the theme “The Beauty and Prosperity, Marine Ecosystem Opportunity” as it supports the ecological purposes while depicting economic opportunities offered from the Marine ecotourism sectors. AIS Forum acts as a vessel, embracing 41 island states and 6 archipelagic states from South Pacific, Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Europe, with a purpose to build concrete cooperation focusing on 4 sectors of collaborations; blue economy, mitigation of climate change and disaster, ocean pollution due to plastic trash ,and good ocean and maritime governance.

Three purposes of the AIS Startup and Business Summit 2019:

  1. To build a strong relationship between players from marine ecotourism sector, mainly for collaborations between startups through networking among other representatives from the countries which are part of AIS Forum.
  2. To adopt a principle for sustainable development and a principle of blue economy through launching BEDI (Blue Economy Development Index), Code of Conduct on Marine Eco-Tourism, and Blue Bond Framework.
  3. To give opportunities for investors to closely interact with founders and startups from marine ecotourism sectors from other countries part of AIS Forum; to support business transaction among business founders.
