Saskia Tjokro of ANGIN in UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Indonesia Talkshow

UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) (http://unsdsn.org) Indonesia organized an event titled “Indonesia’s Achievement towards SDGs 2030” on Saturday, 24 August 2019 at 2.30 pm – 5.30 pm at @America Pacific Place, Jakarta. The purpose of the event was to have a platform of discussion and exchange views among the network members, as well as public in general to enhance knowledge and to possibly provide recommendations on the problem matters.

As UN SDSN Indonesia member, Saskia Tjokro, Head of ANGIN Impact was honored to speak at the event and presented a topic about fostering entrepreneurs as sustainable development agent. The fellow speakers on the event are Riki Frindos (Executive Director of Yayasan Kehati), and Kuswanto (Fellow Researcher at the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies Indonesia/ CSEAS); moderated by the Head of UN SDSN Indonesia, Prof. Jatna Supriatna.

The discussion emphasized on impact driven organisations collaborative attempts to reach SDGs 2030 agenda. ANGIN Impact, as advisory function for ANGIN investors network, played a role to integrate Sustainable Development Goals within the practice. ANGIN realise more and more mainstream investors bring more capital in fulfilling SDGs agenda landscape, while aspiring entrepreneurs trying to include SDGs, and unproclaimed social entrepreneurs create SDGs realization. Based on this, ANGIN Impact revisit the discussion on entrepreneurship and SDGs, by rephrasing the question: “How do we foster more Indonesian early and growth stage companies to address the SDGs” regardless of the definition; because there are still few new scale-up champions, while SDGs oriented entrepreneur has high reliance on donors, and there is an accumulation of resources in few entrepreneurs.

ANGIN’s approach to foster the space is by encouraging more talent in impact oriented businesses through our Spotlight program, nurturing the entrepreneurs with leadership programs such as Challenge Accepted!, connects more capital tailored to Indonesia and SDGs impact context through our tailored consulting, and showing evidence by encouraging measurement and transparency such as Equity Crowdfunding and Connector.id.
