ANGIN x Bank Indonesia & Inpex Masela: Weavers Product Development Training

As a part of ANGIN’s commitment to help build entrepreneurship ecosystem in Indonesia, ANGIN has partnered with Bank Indonesia Maluku Province and Inpex Masela to conduct Product Development Training with women weavers in Tanimbar, Maluku on November 18-22, 2019. The training is a continuation of ANGIN’s program to develop Tanimbar tenun.

ANGIN aimed to help women weavers to enhance their practical skills in developing and selling tenun products. The 16 training participants came from two places: five women from Saumlaki, and eleven women from Amdasa village.

The training is led by ANGIN’s Associate Advisor, Gregoria Mandias, assisted by trainers and facilitators from Balai Besar Tekstil. The training was held for five days at Rumah Tenun Batlolonar in Amdasa Village.

The training had three focuses: basic knowledge about textile material and products, tenun ikat structure design, and coloring technique with natural dyes. The training was designed to be an experiential adult learning which required the participants to actively take part and learn by practicing. After the training was done, the trainers are committed to monitor the progress by keeping in touch with the trainees.

With this training, ANGIN hopes to expand its impact in advisory to nourish local women leaders and business talents in Tanimbar and help them thrive. Following our commitment forward, ANGIN will conduct the second part of the training in January 2020.
