Kampung Marketer, Building Purbalingga’s Youth Community for the Better

Indonesia’s unemployment and urban-rural discrepancy records are increasing each year, and it is now harder than ever to overcome with the global pandemic that has been going on for almost a year now.

Fortunately the youths of Purbalingga are prepared in difficult times like this, with the help of Kampung Marketer, an e-commerce learning center for Purbalingga’s youths initiated by Nofi Bayu Darmawan. Kampung Marketer has collaborated with more than 250 SMEs, empowered more than 710 village youths with 21 empowerment centers, and distributed income to village youth worth more than 1.2 billion rupiah per month.

Connecting Beginner SME across Indonesia with Trained and Work-Ready Village Youths

Until today, Purbalingga Regency is still one of the top 15 low-income districts in Central Java Province. Other than the effect of urban-rural discrepancy and urbanization problem, unemployment rate is also the main problem in Purbalingga.

Seeing this condition, Kampung Marketer offers a learning center that contains e-commerce curriculums and instructors who are experts in the field of e-commerce to train village youth. After the village youth are ready to perform different functions in the field of e-commerce, Kampung Marketer collaborates with SMEs in Indonesia who still have problems related to low online sales, since most of them are still all self-taught, focusing on technical matters such as production, but forgetting the top line growth of the company.

By collaborating with Kampung Marketer, SMEs solved part of their problems such as high salary requirements and operating costs in big cities, hiring, training & monitoring of new talent in companies to optimize sales on the internet. Village youths also remain in their villages and earn a higher monthly income from collaborating with SMEs than they would otherwise, increasing their standard of living.

Youth and Community as Change Makers

Kampung Marketer’s team is formed from young people in villages who have the same vision, namely how to create the greatest possible social impact in Purbalingga Regency, to decrease unemployment, urbanization, and help SMEs to grow on the internet. This team consists of Nofi Bayu Darmawan, Hartanto, and Akhfa Irawan, who are competent in their fields related to what they run at this startup. Their long term vision is to scale up their impact so that they can contribute to the creation of thousands of jobs in villages in the technology sector.
