Manggarai & Alor Entrepreneurship Training

PT Sarana Multi Infrastructure (SMI), a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Finance, was connected with ANGIN (Angel Investment Network), a private sector investment and advisory platform with the same vision in mind to empower the entrepreneur community.

Reflecting on the global pandemic, PT SMI and ANGIN joined forces to make a covid recovery project targeting women entrepreneurs in third tier cities. Thorough assessment on the entrepreneurs needs to stay afloat and improve their business was conducted by the two organizations. After learning from multiple stakeholders, it is understood that capacity building efforts were needed to enhance capabilities of these entrepreneurs to become more resilient in the pandemic situation. To amplify the impact of this project, PT SMI with ANGIN collaborated with National Craft Council East Nusa Tenggara, TripTrus (https://www.triptrus.com/) , PT Insan Bumi Mandiri (https://insanbumimandiri.org/), Copa De Flores (https://www.instagram.com/copadeflores/?hl=id) , UN Women Indonesia (https://asiapacific.unwomen.org/en/countries/indonesia) and more than 10 experts and public figures engaged in the program.

We managed to collaborate with multi stakeholders ranging from the government bodies such as the regional craft council, led by Ms Julie Laiskodat, to private sectors, from local experts to nationwide public figure experts such as Diediet Maulana, a well known designer from Indonesia that gave insight from his role in empowering local weavers. We designed the capacity building program that covers topics such as entrepreneurship, operations, marketing and basic finance bookkeeping skills. The program specifically holds hands with local partners in delivery to be able to capture the local wisdom and trust from the local entrepreneurs. These collaborations allow us to give support to the local entrepreneurs in increasing their skills and knowledge to be able to expand their market and eventually increase their income.
